Vintage large skillet, decorated with the Brittany pattern, made in stoneware by Buchan Pottery, Portobello Scotland in the late 1960s.
Buchan Pottery was established in Portobello Scotland in 1867 by Alexander Buchan, it relocated to Crieff in 1972 and the pottery closed in 2000. Being stoneware, it is oven proof, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
The skillet is 29.5cm in length end of handle to rim, the pan is 20cm by 21cm by 5.5cm deep and is in good condition free from chips or cracks just the odd light mark commensurate with use or age. On the underside are the Buchan mark used from 1949 onwards, which is a thistle design with the words BUCHAN Portobello Scotland in the thistle motif and FINEST STONEWARE beneath and the size & pattern marks Brittany 259 M5-154. The unpackaged weight is 749 grams.
