Italian Ceramic Figurative Charger / Bowl from Fratelli Fanciullacci, 1950s
A figurative Italian ceramic charger produced around 1950–1960 by Fratelli Fanciullacci, a Florentine workshop renowned for its post-war modernist creations. The piece is marked “Italy” and bears a model number painted under the base, characteristic of pieces intended for export. This is a rare collector's item, representative of the workshop's emblematic figurative work.
The decoration features stylised female figures rendered in relief using a sgraffito technique and enhanced with hand-applied coloured glazes. The intentionally textured surface, combined with matte and glossy glazed areas, gives this jug a strong sculptural presence. A work representative of Italian modernism, straddling the line between utilitarian object and decorative sculpture.
