Large Vintage Meccano Ferris Wheel Model with Motor – Hand Built Mechanical Fairground Display
An impressive scratch-built Ferris wheel constructed using classic Meccano components, showcasing the creativity and mechanical ingenuity that has made Meccano famous for over a century.
Carefully assembled from metal Meccano strips, plates, girders, and fixings, this large working-style fairground wheel features brightly coloured gondolas in red, blue, and yellow. A motor is fitted to the model (currently untested), suggesting the wheel was originally designed to rotate as a working mechanical display.
It is clear that many hours of patient building and engineering went into creating this piece. The structure is both sturdy and visually striking, making it a fantastic example of hobbyist craftsmanship and mechanical modelling.
